The Upcountry area consists of Makawao / Olinda or Pukalani and the cooler climate areas of Kula/Ulupalakua. West Maui has our historic Lahaina Town, Ka'anapali, Napili, Honokowai, Kahana or Kapalua. Our main business center Kahului is located in Central Maui. Kahului is where you will find the airport, shipping, Maui Memorial Hospital, Maui Community College, Maui Arts and Cultural Center and large retail shops such as Costco and Wal-Mart. The Maui County Government resides in Wailuku on the slopes of the West Maui Mountains and adjacent to Iao Valley. This overlooks the Super Ferry Pier at the Harbor, the Central Valley and all the way to Science City on the top of Haleakala Summit.
